Learning about Islamic banking

KUWAIT Finance House (Malaysia) Bhd (KFHMB) hosted in-house briefings for several university students recently.

A total of 75 students majoring in Islamic Banking from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) as well as Syariah and Law from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) filled the training room at KFHMB’s head office in Kuala Lumpur to gain a practical insight into Islamic banking and finance.

The students began their visit with a tour of the office before heading for the trading room of the Treasury Division.

As this was the first time they were witnessing the activities in a trading room, they were visibly excited.


In addition to the tour, key officers conducted presentations on the Bank’s operations.

KFHMB played host to another group of 25 university students from Kuwait who are participants of a leadership programme

The students were welcomed by Nawaf AlMenayekh, one of KFHMB’s senior managers.

The students’ enthusiasm was clearly evident when they posed several in-depth questions on topics concerning Islamic banking and the bank’s operations.

The educational briefings are part of an ongoing programme which KFHMB initiated to create awareness, stimulate interest and educate the public on topics in Islamic banking and finance.

Last May, KFHMB held its first in-house university students’ briefing for participants of The Financial Sector Talent and Enrichment Programme (FSTEP), an initiative of Bank Negara Malaysia.
